Camino 2014

The  first big adventure we ever took outside of American Soil. We discovered this trail by watching a film from Emilio Estevez and Martin Sheen. I turned to Deb and said that would be cool to do, she replied, okay... So let's do it.

Camino 2019

Here we return to the Camino on the 5 year anniversary of the 2014 starting day. It's with a heavy heart we are 1 pilgrim short, to follow the same path she did.

The Next Adventure Unknown

A placeholder for now until we've decided what crazy thing we're going to complete next.

Since 1993

Karl and Deb

How to you put into words a persons being.  If I were a writer maybe I could find the words to talk of Deborah's attributes.  Using words like bravery, inspirational, kind, adventurous, funny, the list could go on and on.

This young woman defied the odds and did what only God knew she could do.  How many people would have the courage to traipse 500 miles across a foreign country in an electric wheelchair while connected to a ventilator.  With only her husband and sons with miles and miles between towns.  Some would probably call them foolhardy but she had a faith like no one I had ever met.

She had a heart for all people, it didn't matter who you were, rich or poor, powerful or not, black or white, she loved you.  She could make a person feel like they could accomplish anything.  She inspired all of us, not only to do things we probably couldn't have been able to do, but to be better than we were.  If she, with all the challenges she had, could do all she did, what excuse do we have.

If anyone could ask for the greatest gift I know what I would ask for: To just have someone like Deb in our life, if even for a short time.  I am so thankful I had that light for 31 years.  It was so much more than I ever deserved.  But I thank God every day he gave it and her to me for as long as he did.  Thank you God and I love you babe.
